Thank God For Everything (TGIF) - Every New DAY Is Not Yesterday
Friday Aug 08, 2025
Friday Aug 08, 2025
In this episode, we're diving deep into the power of daily gratitude and the truth that EveryDay is your "Last but First." Today, I'm sharing my heart as I watch my daughter navigate the start of her senior year, and how this milestone reminded me that yesterday is gone but today is our fresh start. This isn't just about milestone moments - it's about US recognizing the miracles we take for granted every single day, from having a sound mind to being able to care for ourselves.
Remember how we only thank God on Fridays (TGIF)? We're breaking that mindset and learning why Monday through Sunday ALL deserve our thanksgiving. I'm sharing real talk about mental health, the blessing of cognitive abilities, and why we need to stop focusing on what we DON'T have and start celebrating what we DO have.
Plus, I'm sending up prayers for all our educational warriors - the teachers, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, and security guards who pour into our children daily but don't get the respect they deserve. Tap in to embrace this life-changing perspective: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner
Drop me a comment about what daily blessing you've been taking for granted, and share how you're going to shift from TGIF to thanking God for every day of the week! Let's keep building this gratitude lifestyle together. 💪🏾

In this episode, we're diving deep into the sacred season of back-to-school and the bittersweet journey of parenting through transitions. Today, I'm sharing my raw emotions about dropping off my daughter for her senior year - the "last first day" that hit me right in the heart. But this isn't just about parental feelings - it's about US recognizing and celebrating every single person who touches our children's lives in these school systems.
We're talking about the unsung heroes who make education possible: the teachers spending their own money on supplies, the bus drivers starting their day before dawn, the cafeteria workers nourishing our babies, and the administrators managing what I call a "mini city" every single day. This episode is a call to action for our community to show up with gratitude, prayer, and support for these incredible individuals who are investing in our children's futures.
From preschoolers taking their first steps into learning to college students navigating independence away from home, we're covering them ALL in prayer and lifting up everyone who guides their journey. This message will transform how you see your school community and inspire you to take action in showing appreciation.

Financial Freedom Fridays: What I Wish Someone Told Me at 22!
Friday Aug 01, 2025
Friday Aug 01, 2025
In this episode, we're getting real about money, mentorship, and building generational wealth! Today, I'm sharing the raw, unfiltered conversation I had with my son about financial planning - the same conversation I wish someone had with me at 22. This isn't just about saving money - it's about US, our responsibility to teach the next generation, and how honesty about our financial mistakes can become someone else's breakthrough.
Remember how your parents or elders shared wisdom that changed your perspective? I'm breaking down my four-account strategy that could transform how you think about saving, investing, and building wealth even when you're starting late. From high-yield savings to that crucial "fun money" account, plus the old-school wisdom of Christmas clubs and partner accounts - this episode is packed with practical strategies you can start TODAY.
This conversation was sparked by my son's new job and deepened by recent family loss, reminding me how important it is to share knowledge while we can. I'm keeping it 100 - I started late, made mistakes, but I'm not letting that stop me from helping others do better.

On today's episode, we welcome the amazing Dr. Bilkisu Gaye, MD. Man oh man, we're diving deep into the truth about our US healthcare system, the dangers lurking in our food, and how one incredible woman went from refugee to revolutionary doctor. This isn't just about health tips - it's about US, our community, and how we can take control of our wellness before we end up in the hospital.
Dr. Gaye completely shattered everything I thought I knew about sugar, revealing how it's literally more addictive than cocaine and is hidden in foods we'd never suspect. She exposed the insurance system that pays doctors to treat disease but not prevent it, and gave us the blueprint for accessing functional medicine even on a budget. From throwing agave in the trash (yes, I really did it!) to understanding male menopause, this conversation will transform how you think about your health journey.
But what really got me was her story - from surviving Sierra Leone's civil war as a refugee to becoming a doctor in Atlanta who's fighting for our community's health. Dr. Gaye isn't gatekeeping this knowledge; she's offering free consultations and programs because she believes everyone deserves access to real healthcare.

Friday Jul 25, 2025
In this episode, we’re diving deep into the idea of thanks and gratitude—not just when things are going well, or on Fridays when the world says to celebrate TGIF, but every single day. No matter what life throws at us, we have something to be thankful for, and that’s the spirit I want to pass on to you.
This episode is a heartfelt dedication to our brother, our friend Malcolm-Jamal Warner, whose passing reminded me of just how precious every moment is. I reflect on my week, sharing stories from my own life—including a revealing conversation with my son—that taught me the importance of gratitude in all seasons. It made me realize how often we reach out for help only when we need it, both to our loved ones and to God, and forget to give thanks when the sun is shining.
We’ll talk honestly about the ups and downs, the stress and the joy, and the necessity of giving thanks even when facing rough times. I invite you to join me in seeing God’s presence all around us—as our protector, our guide, our forgiver, and our foundation. There’s always a reason to give God thanks, to reach out, and to come together as a community.
So pull up a chair, grab a cup, get comfortable, and join the conversation in Cousin Ed’s Corner. Your feedback and stories mean everything to me, and I can’t wait to hear how you practice gratitude in your own life. Don’t forget to leave us a voicemail at 762-333-2032. We’d love to hear your thoughts! 📞💬 And remember to follow us on Twitter, IG, FB, and TT @cousinedscorner for more updates and exciting content. Let's keep the conversation going! #PodcastLove #StayConnected
Thanks so much for tuning in. Let’s move into our future together with thankfulness in our hearts. See you in the next episode!

Wind Down Wednesday - Grief Is So Real & Why Every Moment Matters More Than You Think
Wednesday Jul 23, 2025
Wednesday Jul 23, 2025
On today's episode, we're diving deep into the grief we're all feeling over Malcolm-Jamal Warner's passing and why losing someone we watched grow up feels like losing family. This isn't just about celebrity culture - it's about US, our shared experiences, and how the people we "grew up with" on screen become mirrors of our own life journey.
I'm sharing why Theo from The Cosby Show felt like that brother, that cousin, that friend we all had, and how watching his transition from child to man paralleled our own growth. We're talking about parasocial relationships, the psychology behind collective grief, and why some losses hit us harder than others. But most importantly, I'm challenging each of us to become better memory keepers - to document the precious moments with our loved ones before it's too late.
This episode gets vulnerable about my own experience losing a local news anchor I felt connected to, and how it taught me about the power of routine relationships and sudden loss. We're processing grief together as a community because that's what we do - we don't face these hard moments alone. I'm talking about turning your phone into a memory machine, capturing those random Tuesday smiles, and sharing those moments so they live beyond just our devices.
Tune in for the full episode: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner

Family, this one's different. This one comes with a sadden heart. Today, we learned about the the tragic loss of my big brother - Malcolm-Jamal Warner. Now I know we never met, but sometimes people touch your life in ways that make them family, and that's exactly what Malcolm did for me and millions of young Black men through his portrayal of Theo Huxtable.
This isn't just about nostalgia, family. This is about the power of representation, the reality of legacy, and how tomorrow isn't promised for any of us. I'm sharing how Theo's character literally changed the trajectory of my life - from struggling with grades to embracing education, from hiding my intelligence to today teaching others. I even talk about recreating that famous father and son "Monopoly money" conversation with my own son, proving that some lessons are truly timeless.
But here's the real challenge I'm putting out there: What mark are you leaving on this world? You don't need to be on TV or have millions of followers to impact lives. Sometimes it's as simple as planting a tree, teaching someone something new, or being the positive example someone else needs to see.

Friday Jul 18, 2025
Friday Jul 18, 2025
In this episode, we're diving deep into the power of divine gratitude and authentic spiritual reflection. Today, I'm sharing a raw, unscripted message about thanking God for everything - the growth, the guidance, the protection, and yes, even the mistakes that became our testimony.
This isn't just about faith - it's about US, our journey, and recognizing how God has been orchestrating every step, even when we were resistant to His plan. We're exploring the sacred balance between faith and works, and how sometimes we're stuck because we're trying to handle everything ourselves instead of going to God first.
Remember those nights you wish you could take back? We're talking about how God's grace covers our poor choices and transforms our mess into our message. I'm sharing the powerful visualization of how God surrounds us completely - above us like an umbrella, behind us cleaning up our transgressions, in front of us clearing the path, and beneath us calling us to humility.
This episode is for anyone who needs to remember that even in your loneliest moments, God hasn't left you. Whether you're in your car, closet, or park bench, He's there waiting for you to connect.

Wind Down Wednesday - Why That 'Missed Opportunity' Wasn't Actually Meant for You
Wednesday Jul 16, 2025
Wednesday Jul 16, 2025
On this episode, I’m opening up about the big and small opportunities in life that we sometimes let slip by. We’ve all had those moments—from missing the boat on Bitcoin, to wishing we’d made smarter choices back in our college days. This episode dives deep into those “what if” stories, laughing at some of them, and learning from all of them.
I recently chatted with a few close friends to swap stories about missed chances—like trading away investments or spending money on trips instead of building for the future. It’s so easy to let regret sneak in when you look back and realize what could have been. But as we shared our experiences, it became clear: we’re here now, wiser and stronger, and it’s up to us to use those lessons for good.
This episode isn’t just about regret, though. I want you to feel encouraged and uplifted. I talk about helping a friend who’s going through a tough time, showing how we need to give ourselves and each other grace, and focus on the fresh opportunities the present brings. Sometimes things just aren’t meant for us yet, and that’s okay. What matters most is what we do with the knowledge we have today.
So, pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and let’s reflect together. We’re building something special here at Cousin Ed’s Corner — a real community where we can laugh, learn, and move forward, no matter what’s behind us. Tune in, reach out, and let’s keep pushing each other toward better tomorrows. I want to hear your stories, your thoughts, and your feedback. This corner is for all of us!

This isn't just about podcasting - it's about showing up for your dreams, even when you don't feel like the best at what you're doing.

In this episode, I sat down with Chris Cobb, and let me tell you - this man dropped some serious knowledge that had me taking notes the whole time. Chris took us on his incredible journey from vacuuming cars at Enterprise Rent-A-Car to building a successful financial coaching empire, and every twist and turn taught us something valuable about seizing opportunities and building sustainable wealth.
What really hit me was when Chris talked about the financial literacy gap in our communities. He broke down how we're all walking around assuming everyone knows basic money concepts, but the reality is so many of us are missing fundamental building blocks. I'm talking about the difference between debit and credit cards, understanding what a budget actually is, and knowing where your money is really going each month. Chris explained it perfectly with that classroom analogy - when kids don't understand something, they're often too embarrassed to raise their hand, so they just get passed along without really learning. That's exactly what's happening with our money education.
The practical advice Chris shared for the second half of 2025 is pure gold. From switching to high-yield savings accounts (we're talking going from 0.01% to 4% just by switching banks!), to understanding how AI and social media can create new income streams, this episode is packed with actionable strategies you can implement immediately. Plus, his perspective on entrepreneurship - building part-time for two years before making the leap - shows the real blueprint for sustainable business building, not these overnight success fantasies we see online.
Tune in Now: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner
If you've ever felt overwhelmed by financial advice or wondered why certain money concepts seem to click for some people but not others, this conversation will change your perspective. Chris proves that with the right foundation and mindset, anyone can build financial freedom. So grab your notebook, tune in, and get ready to level up your financial game!

In this episode, we're diving deep into one of the most controversial parenting topics of our time - navigating authority with our young adult children who are still financially dependent. Today, we're tackling the hard questions about when parental guidance ends and adult independence begins, and trust me, this conversation is going to challenge some perspectives.
This isn't just about being right or wrong - it's about US, our parenting philosophies, and how we prepare our young adults for the real world. I'm sharing some personal stories from my Brooklyn upbringing that shaped my understanding of respect, consequences, and what it means to make adult choices. From the unforgettable lesson my father taught me about authority to the practical strategies we use today, this episode explores the delicate balance between guidance and independence.
Remember how our parents prepared us for the world by teaching us to follow instructions and face consequences? We're examining whether those same principles apply when our 20-something kids are still living under our roof, driving our cars, and depending on our support. This conversation spans cultural differences, generational perspectives, and the modern challenges of extended adolescence.

Thank God For Everything (TGIF) - When God Puts Goliath in Your Path
Friday Jun 27, 2025
Friday Jun 27, 2025
In this episode, we're diving deep into what it means to be a warrior when life puts Goliaths in your path and you don't even have a slingshot to fight with. Today, I'm sharing the incredible story of a young man I used to coach who graduated from Georgia Tech despite enduring three surgeries during his college career, plus a personal memory from my childhood in Flatbush that taught me about divine courage.
This isn't just about facing external battles - it's about US, our daily fights, and recognizing that sometimes our biggest Goliath is just getting out of bed or maintaining faith when every door seems closed. I'm talking about finding what keeps you grounded when you want to give up, because God doesn't want us to lay down - He wants to see if we'll keep fighting even when victory seems impossible.
Remember, your very existence is a testimony to someone else who's struggling. We're exploring how being yourself IS spreading the word, and how your life story - with all its battles and victories - shows others that God's grace is real and His power is sufficient. Whether you're fighting through job loss, health challenges, or just the daily struggle to keep going, this episode is your reminder that you're already victorious because you made it through yesterday.
